Assault on Icecrown Citadel begins!

Icecrown Citadel was opened in early December, but the guild suspended 25 man raids until the beginning of the year due to vacations and holidays. During that window, we had several excellent players join our PvE ranks (Moevil, Jeramabih, Kwazievil and Soevil) and we worked on getting folks in as much gear as possible for ICC. In our second week running ICC 25 (last week), we finished clearing The Lower Spire and this week we look to start hitting The Plague Works. The progress has been quick and we have been getting a lot done in limited raid time...as usual. In addition to the 25 man success, we have three 10 man raids going in ICC 10 currently and all of them are working on clearing the Plague Works as well. Time to get that wing knocked out so we can work our way into The Crimson Hall. I am glad to see the activity pick right back up in the guild after the holidays and look forward to our meeting with Arthas.

PS: Quite the rod you got there, Selkies.

Happy 5th Anniversary, Onslaught!

It was five years ago today that Onslaught was officially created on the Blackhand server and it has been a functioning entity since that time. There have been many faces that have been in this guild over the course of the past five years. Some are still here, some have moved on to other guilds or left the game. Everyone has had a role to play in the evolution of this guild that was created from a group of folks that migrated from our guild in Dark Age of Camelot. The amazing thing is that through many different twists and turns...the guild has made it to this point. As the oldest original guild on the Blackhand server, we have continually grown throughout the years and are in the most successful part of our journey through the land of Azeroth. I feel very lucky to have been so fortunate to find so many people that would not only make this game so much fun to be a part of...but also to continue help writing chapters in the story of Onslaught

Happy Anniversary folks!!!

Onslaught turning 5 and Group 2 finishes ToC

The past several months have been a lot of fun in the guild. We now have two successful 10 man raid groups going that have cleared ToC 10 (see the pic of Group 2 below) and are working on clearing Heroic ToC 10. The guild has also been raiding for a month in ToC 25 and will be done with it soon. The guild has been growing a lot the past few months and many people have been contributing to it's success. I am very appreciative for all the hard work and effort that folks have been pouring into the guild to make a casual guild so effective. We are still building momentum and look forward to hitting the final raid instance for Wrath of the Lich King, Icecrown Citadel. This should be arriving in the next several weeks.

Another milestone coming up in the next several weeks is the fact that both World of Warcraft and Onslaught are turning 5! It is hard to imagine our guild has been going for 5 years now. The road to this point has been long and winding with several detours, but I am very happy with what we have been able to accomplish as a group. There are so many people that have been instrumental in making this guild what it is. Again, I thank you all for helping contribute and make the vision of the guild become reality. Hope we continue to share many more evenings of fun together!

Trial of the Crusader cleared, Group 2 is going and 25 man raiding

It has been a very busy month for the guild as we have had a lot of great things happening/going on. First, we had two old time Onslaught members return to action (Mogwhy and Naimh) as well as a fresh level 80 member in Blesing. In addition to that, we have added several new faces. Quality folks like Incendrea, Berakhai, Criom, Ro, Justtas and Alzhadeed have all joined our ranks. The boost in numbers has been a significant boon to our abilty to raid in the form of a second 10 man raid as well as starting to hit guild only 25 man runs. Since 3.2 was applied, the guild has been franticly getting gear and upgrades to help us work our way into 25 man content. The overall gear level of the guild has jumped dramatically and it has been great to see.

On top of that, our primary 10 man raid group hit Trial of the Crusader 10 hard when it was released and have cleared it. This past week we got through it in 51 minutes and plan to start shaving that time down. They are going to focusing on hitting Trial of the Crusader 10 Heroic to see if they can start making some progress in there.

While the primary 10 man was making progress in 10 man Trial of the Crusader, we started getting a second 10 man to take some "calibration" runs in Ulduar 10. In the first few weeks, they have done very well at working together and are looking to start hitting 10 man Trial of the Crusader very soon. It would be great to get two groups in there and getting the upgrades to compliment our 25 mans. Excellent work, folks!

It has been a fantastic month for the guild everyone...thank you and keep it up!
The General is retired

Been a bit busy with work and other assorted things again, but I needed to get an update on the front page. Back on July 20th, we took down General Vezzax in Ulduar 10 to just leave Yogg Saron and Algalon (technically speaking). In dropping the General, we have exhaled a bit on Ulduar. With the release of 3.2, we are looking to do more hard modes in both Ulduar and Trial of the Crusader...as well as establish a consistent second 10 group to run for Onslaught. We are still knocking on the door of 25 man content...just a few shy now, but that is still something we are trying to push toward as well. Thank you to everyone who has been working on getting us to this point. Lets keep the momentum going!

We got the Keepers!

Wow....it has been quite a while since we had a front page story to update our progress in Ulduar. The guild has had some bad luck with our ability to raid over the past month again due to weather, computer problems, work travel and scheduling conflicts. We had our minds made up that no matter how long it took or how many wipes it would take...Mimiron would be dropping last night. It turns out that met our goal last night...even before the scheduled raid time was over. This was a hard boss for us to get down just due to the fact that we had a hard time consistently fielding the same group of people week to week. As a result, it required new faces to constantly learn the encounter. While people were doing a great job adapting, it still required us to backtrack a lot to teach folks how to do the fight. During those weeks, we were hitting all around the bullseye, but could never quite get the center. That all changed last night! Just the General and Yogg to go now. General will die no later than next Monday night and we will have to see what kind of fight Yogg puts up...

;)

Great work to everyone that had a hand in getting this boss down!

Down to three!

The past few weeks have been rather productive for us in Ulduar. We have managed to get another three bosses down in there as well as take down our first boss on hard mode (Flame Leviathan). Onslaught has marked Hodir (May 20th), Thorim (May 25th) and Freya (May 27th) off the "To-Do" list in Ulduar. That just leaves us three more to take down: Mimiron, General Vezax and Yogg-Saron. We will be taking our first swigns at Mimiron this evening, but will have a solid 2.5 hours to take him down. While he is supposed to be one of the more difficult bosses in Ulduar, I am pretty confident we will be down to two after this evening. We are on the home stretch now folks...outstanding!

In addition, please welcome those transferring to us from outside the server. The first to be joining us is Everdawn. It is great to have you! The influx of folks will help Onslaught to get back into 25 man guild raiding. You can expect that to be happening very soon!

Assembly of Iron, Kologarn and Auriaya the latest to drop

I have been a bit lazy the past few weeks about updating the page, but on May 5th the guild had a great night in Ulduar. We went into the Antechamber and downed 3 new bosses in a single 2.5 hour session! The Assembly of Iron, Kologarn and Auriaya all were defeated in fairly easy fashion by our 10 man raid. The gives us 7 bosses completed out of 13. Our hope last week was to get back in and clear the first 7 bosses quickly, but we were derailed by ISP problems on Tuesday and weather on Wednesday. However, we are off to an excellent start this week as we took out the first 7 bosses (all on one shots) in just two hours. People were focused and did an excellent job taking care of business. We are hoping to get another 3 bosses down this week and maybe even finish off Ulduar the week after.

The Siege of Ulduar is complete!

Last night, we cleared the first section in Ulduar...The Siege of Ulduar. Ignis the Furnace Master was the final piece that we needed and we got him down on our second attempt of the evening. This puts us at 4 raid bosses down in 5 raid sessions (2-2.5 hours per session). We are making quick work of the instance and people are adapting very well to circumstances in the raid. It has been a lot of fun to see how fast we are coming along in here and look forward to getting more of the instance cleared soon. We almost got the Assembly of Iron down as well...but we will get that the next time we hit Ulduar. All in all, it has been a very impressive showing from a bunch of folks who allegedly wouldn't be able to raid in here. Outstanding work!

Razorscale joins the hit list

The first challenge in Ulduar is Razorscale. The fight has several moving parts that requires people to be sharp and execute their roles exactly. While learning the first part of the encounter took us several attempts, we finally got a system that worked and after that...it just clicked. On April 28th, Razorscale became another notch on the guild's belt...and we are looking to close out the first section of Ulduar when we get Ignis down.
